A Quiet Reflection – Stockholm exhibition

One of my favourite parts of  Stockholm design week is exploring the installations and exhibitions around the city. This year’s highlight was the peaceful yet dramatic exhibition A Quiet Reflection. Curated by Residence magazine in collaboration with Japanese furniture producer Ariake and Wästberg lighting. The exhibition was held in the former Mexican embassy which will soon be renovated to become a family home.

Selected artisans and designers such as Ariake, Dry Studios, Odem Atelier and more have been chosen to participate in this collaboration. All of the lighting is by Wästberg. Styled by the talented Annaleena Interiors. To see more images of the exhibition visit Swedish magazine My Residence

Though my images (annoyingly) may not entirely be in focus, they’re still beautiful. I was completely distracted by the theatre of it all. Actually this could be quite apt, possibly a Wabi-Sabi approach. Celebrating imperfections of life, the beauty of decay and honouring art and craftsmanship. The question is, why was this exhibition so relevant? and why did it become such a point of discussion?  I think this is something to do with a reaction to the world right now. This topic is extremely complex and lengthy but it is one that I’m very interest in. I will be looking into for another post for sure.

A beautiful and thought provoking exhibition with stunning products.

Wasn’t it a wonderful exhibition? And you’ve captured the stillness and textures perfectly x

Great collaborative project! I wonder what the family who are moving into the building after the exhibition was finished thought – how many of the design elements did they want to keep?! Great photos.
