After 13 years of living in London I will be shipping off and moving to Copenhagen! This probably isn’t much of a secret as I’ve mentioned my news on Instagram a few times but realised that I’ve neglected to announce it on my blog. Having visited Copenhagen multiple times now, for work and pleasure, it has become a place that I feel at home. I love London so much but I’ve needed a change for a while. After my many operations and long (ongoing) recovery, I’ve been finding London a little challenging. Looking for a calmer pace of life but not at a complete halt or that of a pensioner. I may not go out much these days but I still want to explore and have fun. I love cites, cycling, the sea, Denmark and design so Copenhagen will feels like a great next step.
Lots of people have asked me what will I ‘do’ over there, for work etc. The simple answer is, exactly the same as I’m doing right now. I will continue to write for my blog and collaborate with various businesses if I see fit. What’s exciting is that I will have the chance to REALLY delve myself deep into the Scandinavian design world that I’m so enamoured with. I will be styling my Danish home with new finds, learning lots, discovering new designs, interiors and designers, I think I’ll be quite busy. DON’T WORRY, Hansel is coming with. His pet passport is ready and his Danish is coming along brilliantly. Did I mention that I don’t go out much?! haha
We’ve found our new rental that we’re excited to live in. Though it’s smaller than my current home and with NO storage, it will be a challenge. BUT I’m a campaigner of minimalism and not the stark, no possessions kind, the minimalism that is liveable. I will be sure to practice what I preach. Now that the fantasy of moving to Copenhagen is becoming reality, I’ve had lots to sort out and do. Hanging my head in shame I have realised that I still have lots to learn about minimising my possessions. Moving is a great time to declutter and have a thorough rummage through my things and to plan my new Danish minimal home. Which I’m sure will lead to more blog posts on the reality of decluttering and minimising.
So, is it a fresh new start, turning over a new leaf? I see it as the next “logical” step in my life, mid-30’s, no kids, not married (Stephen and I are still together, he’s coming too), no mortgage and a life long health condition…what else would I do?! haha Being sensible isn’t really in my nature, to do what’s expected, settling down in the suburbs of London and buying a house, isn’t in my nature either. So let’s have an adventure, discover and learn something new! I’ll let you know how I get on……
