Faye Toogood x Made a Mano

During the London Design Festival in September I got the chance to visit Faye Toogood’s studio and see her collaboration with Made a Mano. Faye Toogood is a British designer with a super contemporary style that I could describe as, conceptual, modern, artistic, thought provoking and inspiring. Her portfolio ranges from designing furniture, spaces, fashion, objects, installations…and so on. Her chair designs are STUNNING, with the Roly Poly chair on my dream wish list. I remember being in awe of Faye’s installation called ‘the drawing room‘  at Somerset house in 2015. Which took me into a hand drawn room in charcoal on translucent sheets and a selection of intriguing furniture. It was amazing to experience. Once I heard that Faye Toogood had collaborated with Made a Mano for this years London Design Festival, I knew that I had to see it.

Danish-Italian art and tile company Made a Mano focuses on craft, aesthetics and durability, making high-end tiles and interior solutions for projects.  “Made a Mano blend the mysteries of the Orient and the artisan traditions of Italian craft with subtle Scandinavian elegance”. Their collection of ceramics is so swoon worthy, as a tile geek I’m quite shocked that I hadn’t discovered them before.

MAGMA is the collaborative collection from Faye Toogood and Made a Mano. The series consists of glazed lava stone tiles and tables. I was rather taken with the larger pieces displayed on large chunks of lava stone, they look like art pieces, I may have to invest. Among this exhibition of tiles was a collection of Faye Toogood’s super cool unisex fashion line named Toogood . The clothing is of amazing quality and designs are minimal and incredibly contemporary. It was a treat to see all of this work in the studio before they had to relocate from this 60’s apartment block and even sadder that it’s going to be flattened, don’t get me started on London housing development. Now Faye Toogood’s studio is based in Redchurch street, which is pretty cool so all is not lost.

I look forward to discover more from both Faye Toogood and Made a Mano, this collaboration is inspiring!

The dress hanging above the table could just as well be a setting for some independent movie! Excellent mix!
