Protect your home from water damage with Grohe Sense water sensor

At home, Grohe Sense water sensor

Damp, flooding and small leaks are major concerns for home owners but I’d also like to highlight that it’s a concern for renters like myself too. Renting in London often comes with a lack of care for a tenant’s standard of living. I’ve viewed homes with green and black mould all over the walls with the landlord’s expectation that I’d pay £2300 per month on rent. I don’t think so! Oh the tales I can tellIt’s not only unhealthy and unthinkable to put someone in that living situation but it’s also incredibly insulting. SO there, rant over. I’ve found a solution to help both landlord, tenants and homeowners in preventing this madness. I was recently given this handy gadget, the Grohe Sense water sensor to test out in my home.

This genius pocket size gadget connects to your smart phone and detects temperature, humidity and any flooding in the home. All you have to do is place it in the room of your choice, on the floor, in the cupboard, where ever. It’s a gadget to suit you and whatever set up you have. Connect it to the app on your smart phone and that’s it.

I initally placed it on top of my washing maching in the utility room or more accurately, tiny room in the basement. My main worry is damp and mould. I placed it there for a week to test for humidity. I’ll also be testing it on the floor which is great as I can move it around to where ever my concern is.

Not surprisingly this Grohe Sense water sensor alerted me to the fact that my basement is incredibly humid, which in essence can lead to mould. SO I’ve acted on this information. Making sure the basement gets lots of fresh air and that I don’t dry my wet clothes down there. It’s given me a little more control now over my living situation and also great to give accurate feedback to the landlord about the humid and damp basement.

First off, your utility space looks gorgeous. Even your washing looks stylish Hannah! 🙂
We’ve also got ours in our tiny utility/old pantry by the washing machine and it’s still telling me it’s too humid in there. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for mould over the next few weeks. They’re very clever indeed!

Such a clever gadget!! My other half is OBSESSED with tracking the humidity levels in our house and we’ve been able to do quite a lot to control it over the last year or two but I have no doubt he’d love something like this. I love how you’ve ‘styled’ it as well – your utility room is so lovely!! xx

I love that it can be moved around so easily, so in effect you can test out every room in your home over a period of time

I’m a little bit obsessed with humidity too. We’ve had real issues with the hot steamy air from cooking and showering making its way into our girls’ bedroom and causing a bit of mould. A gadget like this would be perfect for monitoring humidity levels so that we could take action to combat it. What a brilliant little invention. Love how you’ve styled your utility room!

What a clever idea this gadget is and nice that you don’t have to stick with only having it one place. Your utility room looks very tidy.

This is such a clever gadget for detecting damp and humidity, especially in problematic basements! I’d hate to know how damp my cellar is downstairs. If it can have a positive impact on your wellbeing and help you be in more control of your environment, it’s a yes from me xxx
