London Fashion Week is soon approaching (and on my birthday week no less!) showcasing UK and International talent with Autumn/Winter 2012 collections. From Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen to Mulberry, the list goes on, it’s very exciting!

What do I expect from this coming London Fashion week?

I’m not really much of a fashionista but trend spotting I can do. I’m excited to see how the designers suprise us with innovative combinations of style. This show doesn’t look too far into the future of trends but it will however be a valuable insight into the progression of design. Don’t get me wrong, I fully expect this show to wow as always but it’s never as inspiring to me as the Milan Furniture Fair and Paris Couture Week which are much more far future indicators.

Catwalk fashion can be a great source of inspiration with new ideas in colours, shapes, themes and material innovation. With that in mind let me show you an example of how one catwalk trend can translate into a whole story for a room and accessories.

What will I be looking for?

Key colours

Base colours and tones set the scene for the look and feel of any design project. I’m guessing a fashionable greige, probably more of a blue/grey, something that will set off pinks, pastles and rich natural mineral colours.

Pattern

Anything excentric can be translated into quick fix items for the home such as wallaper, cushions and feature colours.

Watch this space, reports will follow!!!
