Micro Trend 2015 : Marble

As you may have noticed in 2014 marble was a key trend that had been placed in juxtaposition with rustic items, such as wooden crates, to make us almost question the value of materials. 2014 was the year full of crafts, salvage, vintage and small independent companies. Having had this surge of creative chaos it seems only natural that we will see this trend become simplified and refined.

This year marble continues to grace us with its elegance as we can’t quite get enough of it.  I think it’s safe to say that tastes are shifting away from ‘make do and mend’ crafts towards paired down, minimalistic design. We will see more refinement and sophistication whist still celebrating the art of the craftsman and designer. You may find yourself asking such questions as, How long will this last?, Who made it? and Where are the materials from?

Even I have become the annoying consumer looking for my forever item, no joke, it took me 6 months to choose a salt grinder. Which looks amazing by the way.

The marble micro-trend is not only aesthetic but symbolises much more about our desire as consumers for a higher quality of product.
