Relaunching a classic. By lassen’s Kubus range in burnished copper as designed in the 1960’s

I imagine we’re all quite familiar with by Lassen’s Kubus range. I’ve long swooned over the Kubus black and cool grey and now there’s a new finish. What makes this exciting is that this finish takes us back to the original Kubus candleholder designed by Mogens Lassen in burnished copper in the 60’s.

Architect Mogens Lassen was ahead of his time when he designed the Kubus candleholder in 1962 as a reaction to the overly decorative and elaborate style found in contemporary homes” – bylassen

Not being a fan of copper I was pleasantly surprised but he finish of the Kubus range in burnished copper. It has a dark, raw quality that will become more beautiful with time. It blends quite nicely within a home environment and even in my monochrome setting. Although copper is a warm orange-type of metal. I find this burnished finish gives it character taking away any orange, yellow and pink tints. It may be because it’s a darker kind of metal but it’s also the depth of the colour.  By Lassen's Kubus range in burnished copper

I’ve been seeing lots of relaunches of classics from companies looking back at original sketches and samples. I’m happy to see this collection launched, for such an iconic range it’s wonderful to see how it was originally intended and designed. I will be adding the Kubus range in burnished copper to my collection along side my Kubus candle holder in black, SO iconic!  I love design history and this range feels like a special and significant one.
