CrossEyes, Danish designed eyewear in London

Danish designed glasses, CrossEyes eyewear

Discovering Danish eyewear brand and optometrist CrossEyes was a welcome relief as I’ve been putting having off my eye test for years (pretty bad seen as I’m seriously short sighted). I first discovered them on instagram with some pretty cool styling and photography, very trendy and fun. The style of usual high street opticians makes me feel really uncomfortable and I seriously dislike being pressured into buying branded glasses because it’s the latest promotion or a celebrity has named a range. I like to be a lot more considered with my approach to buying glasses much like my approach to interior design. This is where CrossEyes comes in and saves my neglected eyes.

The concept of CrossEyes is very simple, the eyewear is designed in Denmark (with no horrible logos stuck to the side) and a simple pricing structure. The price includes the test, frame, lightweight lens, wide progressive zone, hardening and anti-reflex. The stores are pretty nicely designed too.

Reluctant to go back to my usual opticians, who will remain nameless, I thought that I’d give CrossEyes Marylebone a go.

Located in beautiful Marylebone and what I’ve recently found is a little Scandinavian pocket of London. Near by is the Swedish church, The Nordic Bakery, The Harcourt, Skandium and a little further is the Scandinavian Kitchen. CrossEyes Marylebone is beautifully designed with a simple aesthetic which helps calm the overwhelming decision of choosing frames.

My eye test went well, thanks to Panos (one of the owners), it was chilled out with no fuss. This style of opticians/optometry, however you refer to it, is far away from the soulless uniformed stores of the high street that sell celebrity endorsements and logos. CrossEyes is much more of a boutique experience with beautifully designed frames, thorough and relaxed eye tests which together can surprisingly work out cheaper than the unnamed high street opticians.

These tortoise shell frames with slight cats eye are just what I wanted, perfectly simple with a bit of cool.

It’s nice to give my eyes a rest from my contact lenses and I’m loving wearing glasses again.
