getting ready for christmas

The idea of getting you and your home ready for Christmas can be quite stressful, there’s so much to do! I must admit, I fell into the trap of over stretching myself resulting in a huge energy crash and becoming bed bound for a few days. So from now on I’ll be focussing on a slower approach to this season being much calmer too.

Wrapping gifts can be quite a long drawn out and possibly stressful event so I’ve decided to make it into a moment of joy. I baked my favourite Danish breakfast buns, Rundstykker, put my feet up and slowly wrap the gifts. Eating Rundstykker while tackling the job filled me with much needed positive reinforcement. It’s not the most practical approach as I did get crumbs everywhere but it slowed down which was the whole aim.

I’m not one for glitz and glam, as you can probably tell I prefer the simpler things in life. When getting the table ready for my wrapping challenge I aimed to make the space look and feel relaxed, using natural materials and muted tones. My new bench from Another Country is a perfect pew with simple forms and smooth corners, I fell in love with the black detailing which fits in nicely with my monochrome obsession.

This wood and marble platter is great to serve my rundstykker on, making them look that little bit more special.

When wrapping presents I like to buy a big roll of wallpaper lining which is cheap but actually feels very expensive as it’s so thick. I then decorate the gifts with a simple monochrome ribbon, this may cost a little but it’s worth it for the effect. Using the ribbon in a band rather than tying all sides, looks simple and will go much further.

A relaxing process and simple result.

Love the beautiful simplicity, and a clever idea to use wallpaper, so often you have an odd bit hanging about which hasn’t been used up. Gotta try those Rundstykker too, yum! x

Beautiful bench and love the styling. I know what you mean about Christmas, so much to do and so little time. x

Love love the wrapping paper idea, wallpaper, fab! Also you mentioned at the start of the post about having an energy crash – do you have adrenal fatigue (as it sounds like you do from that comment). It was a while ago so I expect you’re feeling better these days.
