Skagerak – a new collection and designer collaborations

Danish brand Skagerak turned 40 last year and with this incredible achievement they have launched some amazing new products. The success of this family owned company may partly be due to their responsible principles. Focussing on sustainability, modern design, quality craftsmanship and working closely with designers. These decisions have structured a company that stands the test of time and produces innovative, award winning designs.

I’m lucky to say that I own a few items by Skagerak and am pretty wowed by the quality, I’ll have them forever. Longevity in design and quality is very important to me. This company have hit the spot with beautiful products and the new 2017 brochure and the ‘Island Stories‘ journal is a wow. Skagerak collaborate with designers both established and new, I love that this company supports the creative community all while keeping their own ethical morals in production too.

I’m keen to share with you what’s caught my eye!

pulse daybed skagerak

Oh to have a day bed….. This Pulse Day Bed by young design duo NOIDOI is a minimalist’s dream. As simple as it looks, this day bbed has some clever details. The mattress can fold over, revealing a hatch within the wooden base. Lifting a lid to the hatch you can access a woollen magazine holder. The hatch can also double up as a serving tray. A simple and adaptable pieces of occasional furniture.

The Vivilo modular shelving system, designed by ‘INCLUDED MIDDLE‘ design duo, Chris Liljenberg Halstrøm and Margrethe Odgaard. Made from solid Ash shelves to fit onto a steel frame that is built up into sections of your choosing. Perfectly adaptable into any space and with a few colour choices you can really make it your own. I’m thinking this would be perfect for my vinyl collection.

Skagerak spira green house

The Spira Green House (so cute!) and Spira Growth Table are both designed by Mia Lagerman. This Swedish-Danish designer has a wealth of designs in her portfolio, my favourite being the Spira greenhouse. I have my own and it’s been perfect for getting a little bit more green fingered.
